3 students suspended after beating Posted: 21 May 2010 03:12 AM PDT " Sue Happy--do you really think that those parents have anything worth suing for? Kind of like getting blood from a turnip, isn't it? You can sue till the cows come home, if there is no assets you are wasting your time. It seems that once a child is targeted for bullying, it just continues and continues. Holding the bullies back won't fix the problem. Put them through Juvie. Maybe alternative school? Kids that bully are unhappy kids. Maybe they and their families all need mandatory family counseling. I am sorry for the victim. I was bullied by a boy in grade school, too. It's not much fun. Candidates disclose convictions Posted: 20 May 2010 11:26 PM PDT NAMPA — Several candidates for office disclosed past criminal convictions in their responses to an Idaho Press-Tribune questionnaire. Here are their responses to the question "Have you been convicted of any misdemeanor or felony charges? If so, please provide information about them." • Incumbent Gov. Butch Otter: "Misdemeanor DUI, 1993." • Rex Rammell, candidate for governor: "Yes; a fish and game misdemeanor violation 20 years ago." • Walt Bayes, candidate for governor: "I did serve some (jail) time for contempt of court, concerning my children Homeschooling. However, because of a bunch of us knot-heads who stood up for our rights, we now have Homeschool that is free of Government Control. If we the citizens of Idaho stand firm in our liberty and trust our almighty God we can still enjoy freedom in this country." • Pete Peterson, candidate for governor: "Yes. In 1974 I was drunk and left The Red Lion without paying a $9.00 bill. I pled guilty and got a 50-buck fine. Although I am nearly 60 and this is the only blemish on my record, if the Canyon County (Sheriff's) Department had been doing their job while I was in High School and College, I would have 81 DUIs." • Harley Brown, 1st Congressional District candidate: "I cannot remember all the minor misdemeanor convictions over the decades...all non violent...never carrying any incarceration time ... just fines and short probation. I have never been permanently convicted of a felony." • Tom Munds, candidate for Idaho House District 11 Seat B: "Yes, I purchased a car part that apparently was stolen and I was convicted of misdemeanor possession of stolen property, 25 years ago. I am actually very thankful for this period in my life because I learned a little about life and came to know the Lord in a very real and powerful way. It was through His grace and mercy that I am where I am today and am a better man for it. I am better because I am able to understand and associate with real people regardless of where they are in their lives without harsh judgment of those who have never been there, to live through difficult times, to emerge victorious, in the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am a regular guy and not exempt from my own issues. I am not afraid to speak the truth to people to know who I am and what I stand for. I stand for Honor, integrity and common sense; it would be contradictory on my platform for me to hide something that was so profoundly life-changing!" • Responses are unedited except to correct spelling errors.
