Home educators offer 2 seminars

CHICKASHA — Tri-City Home Educators will offer two seminars Aug. 28 at at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle.

Carrie Bertrand will lead "Homeschooling 101: Is Homeschooling Right for My Family?" from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This workshop will touch on the history of education in America, discuss reasons why a family might choose to homeschool, and encourage those who already do homeschool.

Michelle Dugas will lead "Homeschooling 102: How do I Make Homeschooling Happen?" from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. During this part of the discussion, topics such as learning styles, curriculum, record keeping, scheduling, testing, and Oklahoma laws.

Each workshop will end with a question and answer time.

Lunch will be provided free of charge for members of TCHE; it will cost $5 for non-members.

Green Bay Area Christian Homeschoolers host meeting tonight

Green Bay Area Christian Homeschoolers will host a kick-off event for people who home school or are interested in homeschooling at 6:30 p.m. today at Spring Lake Church, 2240 Klondike Road.

Membership registration begins at 6 p.m., with a meeting at 6:30 p.m.

According to the group's website, it consists of more than 200 families and is run by volunteers. Visit www.gbach.org for more information.
